On June 13th, the first batch of NIO‘s fourth-generation power swap stations officially went online in Guangzhou and Lu’an. A ONVO L60 car completed its first battery swap and slowly drove out of the station.
The two power swapping stations are located at Huadi Square in Liwan, Guangzhou and Luoji Service Area on G40 Hushan Expressway in Lu’an.
NIO‘s fourth-generation power swapping station was launched in December 2023, equipped with 23 battery slots, providing a maximum of 480 services per day. The time for each swap has been reduced by 22%. It is also equipped with a 60-square-meter rooftop photovoltaic system, saving nearly 18,000 kWh of electricity per year for each station and becoming an integrated solar energy storage and charging station.
The fourth-generation NIO power swap station is equipped with 4 NVIDIA Orin X chips, 6 wide-angle LiDAR sensors, and a total computing power of 1016 TOPS; it is compatible with batteries of various specifications and supports shared battery swaps from multiple brands.
According to the plan, in 2024, NIO will add 1,000 new swap stations in the Chinese market throughout the year, bringing the total number to over 3,310; they will also add 20,000 charging piles for a cumulative total of over 41,000.
Previously reported, the first model of the sub-brand ONVO under NIO‘s car brand was released on May 15th with a starting price of 219,900 yuan. It will be available for pre-sale and is scheduled to be launched in September this year.

The car consumes 12.1 kWh per hundred kilometers, claiming to have the lowest energy consumption in the mid-size SUV industry. It will offer three different battery packs with ranges of 555km, 730km, and over 1000km. The new car claims to have the “second best” charging experience (officially implying NIO as the “best” in the industry), supporting one-click automatic parking and battery swapping platform, with a full battery swap taking only 3 minutes.
