When Qualcomm announced the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 this week, the company said smartphones powered by the chipset will be available from the second half of the year. Little did we know that the company meant the devices will be available right away.
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 12R in China powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset, just days after the chipset was announced by Qualcomm. The device had leaked a few weeks before giving an idea of the key specifications. The full picture is now available to us.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12R: Features and Specifications
As mentioned above, the Redmi Note 12R is powered by the latest budget chipset from Qualcomm – The Snapdragon 4 Gen 2. This apart and some minor camera differences aside, the specifications are quite similar to that of the Redmi 12 launched earlier in China.
The Redmi Note 12R features a 6.79-inch IPS LCD display with FHD+ resolution and 90Hz refresh rate. The display has a punch hole cutout for a 5MP front camera selfie camera. On the back, the Redmi Note 12R sports a 50MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture lens and a 2MP macro camera.
The Redmi Note 12R comes in three variants of RAM and storage in China. It is offered in 4GB, 6GB, and 8GB RAM with 128GB and 256GB storage. The storage is further expandable via a microSD card slot.
The smartphone is powered by a 5000mAh battery but comes with slower 18W charging. The smartphone runs on MIUI 14 based on Android 13.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 12R: Price and Availability
The Redmi Note 12R is currently available only in China. The smartphone is available in Midnight Black, Time Blue, and Sky Fantasy colors. The base model with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at CNY 999, while 6GB RAM with 128GB storage is priced at CNY 1,099. The 8GB RAM with 128GB storage is priced at CNY 1,499 while the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage is priced at CNY 1,799.
