Former Liberal MP Craig Kelly says a pornographic tweet shared on his X account was the result of a hack.
His account on X on Sunday shared a post from another account that partly read “Horny sister seduced by her brother’s friend” along with a 24-minute video.
The post was later deleted from his account, with Kelly posting: “My account is still hacked — the offensive item has been removed (it’s not on my page) but it is apparently still appearing on people’s pages.”
Accompanying that post was a screenshot showing an earlier post from Kelly that read: “Earlier today my account was hacked, I have reported this to Twitter and reset my password.
“Ugly stuff.”
Kelly was the MP for the Queensland seat of Hughes for 11 years, having first won it in 2010. He represented the Liberal Party until early 2021 before he resigned to sit on the crossbench and later that year joined and was appointed leader of Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party.
His X account notes he is the current national director of the United Australia Party.
SBS News has contacted the United Australia Party requesting comment from Kelly.

“I think social media hygiene is an issue that we all need to be very conscious of,” then-AFP commissioner Andrew Colvin said in 2018.
“That is about who has access to your Twitter account, how many people have access, do you know who has access to your Twitter account.”
