Popular deejay Popcaan has released a new single ‘Immigrant’ which is produced by his teenaged nephew, Joel Engineer.
Joel, the newest talent from the Unruly Camp, Joel will graduate from a prominent high school in Kingston later this month. He is the son of Unruly Squid – Popcaan’s sister.
Growing up in the Unruly Camp, Joel said he has been deeply inspired by his mother, uncle, and Grammy Award-winning producer Notnice, who is the father of his younger brother.
He believes that their careers have left indelible marks on the global music landscape and is now ready to make his own impact with a fresh and compelling sound.
“Growing up in the Unruly Camp has been a unique and inspiring experience. My mom and uncle have been my biggest influence.
“My uncle’s dedication and passion for music has always motivated me. With ‘Immigrant,’ I wanted to create something that resonates with Jamaicans and regional citizens living abroad. It’s a song about our experiences and the stories that connect us. I’m also incredibly excited to collaborate with other local artistes and continue to grow as a producer,” Joel shared.

The single combines Joel’s innovative production skills with Popcaan’s signature lyrical prowess, creating a track that is both reflective and forward-thinking.
As Joel embarks on this new chapter in his life, he is eager to bring his unique perspective and creativity to the forefront of the music industry. His debut single ‘Immigrant’ will be available on all major streaming platforms on Friday, June 14, 2024.
