A new report is suggesting the next “Avengers” film, a project that has already burned through a number of names, has lost its current scribe.
Nexus Point News (via CBM) reports that Michael Waldron has parted ways with the production. News came in November last year that Waldron, who was already set to write the sixth “Avengers,” will instead pen both films.
At the time he replaced “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” writer Jeff Loveness who was previously attached, and joined the project just weeks after director Destin Daniel Cretton departed the film to focus on other Marvel projects and a “Naruto” film adaptation.
The outlet didn’t provide the reason for his exit, but as Waldron had been working on it for sometime. If the report is accurate, it’s very possible he’s completed all the work required and another scribe is coming in for a final polish.
Alternatively there could be more to it than that, either way Marvel has plenty of time as filming on the new “Avengers” isn’t slated to begin until March next year.
It’s rumoured that up to 60 MCU characters could make an appearance in the new movie, which would be more of an ensemble piece, as opposed to prior entries, which focused primarily on its small core group of heroes. The fifth “Avengers” is slated to hit cinemas on May 1st 2026.
