In the Canadiens’ last game, the team was trailing 0-3 at one point against the Red Wings. They rallied, but still lost in overtime.
Tonight, Martin St-Louis’ troupe faced a much more “catchable” team, the Seattle Kraken.

In the first half, Sean Monahan finally came out of his torpor.
He opened the scoring, with the help of Josh Anderson. If he can’t score, he can pass…
A great forecheck by Matheson and Evans, plus a smart pass but Anderson leads to Monahan’s goal.

In addition to these two forwards, the player of the period was the new millionaire: Samuel Montembeault.
In fact, the Quebecer repelled all the shots directed at him.
And he made some good ones too.
End-to-end action in Montreal and both goalies are on their TOES.
Which stop was better?

Another who ended an ugly streak was Tanner Pearson.
He scored his first goal in 19 games.

Moments later, Juraj Slafkovsky made a fine breakthrough into the offensive zone.
He drew a penalty.

And that eventual power play led to Sean Monahan’s second goal of the game.
Cole Caufield and Nick Suzuki picked up the assists.

Before the end of the period, however, Seattle closed the gap to two goals, outwitting Monty for the first time in the game.
Jared McCann scored his 12th goal of the season.

Still, the CH held on to win a hotly contested game.
Josh Anderson even took advantage of an empty net to score his first goal of the season!
Well placed!

– Let’s hope it unlocks.
Of all the types of goals possible… Anderson needed to score his first in 28 games… like that.
