MIAMI, FL, October 12, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Bree L. Farrugia, has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. As in all Marquis Who’s Who biographical volumes, individuals profiled are selected on the basis of current reference value. Factors such as position, noteworthy accomplishments, visibility, and prominence in a field are all taken into account during the selection process.

From a young age, Ms. Farrugia demonstrated not only academic and linguistic prowess but a sense of justice, principle, and integrity. Along with her parents’ encouragement and her desire to use her language proficiency, she set out to reach the top of her field in international law and experience the world. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Technology Sydney with first class honors, Ms. Farrugia moved to France and in 2010, she earned a Master of Laws, with high distinction, from the Sorbonne University, Paris.

While pursuing her master’s degree in France, Ms. Farrugia worked as a lawyer, in both the French and English languages, at international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills. She was then catapulted to new opportunities, first in Cambodia, then as legal counsel for the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Copenhagen, Denmark. Ms. Farrugia’s work with the United Nations resulted in distinguished and inspiring experiences, conceptualizing the legal architecture of multi-million dollar projects. Notably, she worked closely with the governments of various sovereign nations in establishing the legal framework for Afghanistan’s first female school in one of the country’s provinces, a project that touched her heart and transformed the lives of many young girls.

After her time with the UN, she relocated to Singapore to work in-house for a global bank, directing their international disputes, followed by a return to private practice in Tokyo. While in Japan, she worked on some of the country’s most significant international arbitrations and served as an adjunct professor in International Law and Trade at Keio University, earning numerous professional legal awards and accolades.

Since 2019, Ms. Farrugia has headed up the legal department as General Counsel for the Micro-X Group, a global x-ray imaging technology company, with offices in the US, UK and Australia. In this capacity, she has worked on market-first strategic alliances and partnerships involving best-in-class technology. A seasoned negotiator across multiple countries and jurisdictions, she thrives on crafting legal solutions as innovative as the company’s products, including a re-imagined airport checkpoint system funded by the Department of Homeland Security. She enjoys thinking laterally and keeping up with the brilliant scientists and engineers she works alongside.

Alongside her work across various sectors and countries, Ms. Farrugia has retained membership on the peer review board for Oxford Academic and has authored numerous publications on the legal aspects of global business practice. Through her profession, she holds membership with the Florida Bar, 5050 Women on Boards, the US Association of Corporate Counsel, and the Law Society of New South Wales. Outside of her legal work, she serves on the advisory board of North Bay Village, Miami, where she is resident, providing advice and recommendations to the city commission regarding matters of municipal public concern. Additionally, she and her husband work with the Miami Rescue Mission.

Over the last 20 years, Ms. Farrugia, a top lawyer recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Lawyers, has possessed the courage to embrace the unfamiliar and move beyond her comfort zone. From growing up in Australia to relocating and working around the world, she has utilized her fluency in numerous languages and her vast legal knowledge to push for and enact change. She attributes her success not only to her courage to take on new opportunities but to her hard work and tenacity. Ms. Farrugia aims to continue her work providing critical legal and business counsel to dynamic companies at the forefront of technology and human achievement.
