Actors Siddharth Nigam and Parul Gulati are geared up for their new web show Blue Tick, which deals with social media obsession and how the digital world impacts lives. In the exclusive conversation, Siddharth and Parul share their thoughts about social media obsession and how people are taking the virtual world too seriously.
When asked how much he relates to the fact that social media impacts people’s opinions, Siddharth says, “People do judge others based on the following, likes and social media visiablity. But I don’t believe in it. Personality personality hoti hai, aur aap kisi ko bhi followers ke based pe compare nahi kar sakte. Though I don’t give so much importance to social media presence, maine dekha hai ki jiske zyada likes, followers view zyada hai, people think they are more talented, but waisa hai nahi (I have noticed that whoever has more likes, followers, views, people think that he is more talented, but that’s not how you measure it).”
He further adds, “Jo original content banate hai, unke views kam hai. Aur jo dusro ko sirf copy kar rahe hai, unke views zyada hai. Toh I think they don’t get the validation they deserve (Those who create original content, they have lesser views, and those who are just copying others, have more views. So I think they don’t get the deserving validation).”
Parul Gulati, on the other side, believes that the blue tick verification does come with benefits. She recalls that after her haircare brand, Nish Hair got verified on social media, see got more opportunities and collaborations that benefited his brand.
