2024/25 season fixtures announced for NUFC Women – Newcastle v Sunderland looks interesting
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On Friday, it was announced that the Newcastle United women’s team had a glamour friendly against their AC Milan counterparts.

That game at St James’ Park on Saturday 10 August (see details below).

The friendly is part of the Sela weekender announced in early July.

The Newcastle United men’s team playing Girona FC on Friday 9 August, then Stade Brestois on Saturday 10 August.

It will be a great test for the women’s team ahead of the new season, as they attempt to make it three promotions in a row and make it into the Super League, the top tier of women’s football in England.

Now today (Monday 22 July 2024), Newcastle United Women have found out their fixtures for the upcoming 2024/25 season.

Newcastle United women 2024/25 fixtures

It will be interesting to see how many matches the Newcastle United Women will play at St James’ Park next season and what kind of crowds they get, especially if going for promotion to the top tier.

You would imagine for sure the third last home fixture will be played at St James’ Park, Newcastle v Sunderland and potentially the first ever SJP sold out match for the women’s team?

Newcastle United official announcement – 19 July 2024:

Newcastle United Women will host Italian side AC Milan Women in the highly anticipated ‘Sela Weekender’ at St. James’ Park this coming August.

Becky Langley’s side have celebrated back-to-back league promotions and will prepare for their upcoming Barclays Women’s Championship campaign by taking on European opposition when The Rossonere head to Tyneside on Saturday 10th August, 1pm BST kick-off.

Backed by the club’s primary sponsor, the clash against AC Milan Women will be the first-ever women’s Sela Cup game, which kicks off a day of action as Eddie Howe’s men face French side Stade Brestois, with the Magpies looking to retain the trophy following last summer’s victory.

Speaking about The Sela Weekender, Newcastle United Women Head Coach, Becky Langley, said: “The excitement ahead of this season continues to build after an amazing couple of years celebrating promotions. This team has been on an incredible journey and special parts of this have been playing at St. James’ Park in front of thousands of passionate fans.

“To be able to face European opposition like AC Milan Women, at St. James’ Park, is great as it will give us a different test and help with our preparations ahead of this coming season, which we can’t wait start.”

The Sela Weekender of action at St. James’ Park will get underway on Friday 9th August, 7pm BST kick-off, when Eddie Howe’s side face La Liga club Girona at St. James’ Park. The following day will see Newcastle Women kick off an exciting afternoon of football against AC Milan Women, 1pm BST, before the men return for their Sela Cup tie against Stade Brestois, 4pm BST kick-off.
