Manchester United have had a woeful start to the 2023/24 season. Erik ten Hag’s side have suffered eight defeats from 15 matches in all competitions and this hasn’t been helped by the injuries to key players.
After consecutive 3-0 defeats to Manchester City and Newcastle United, Man United fans’ patience is beginning to wear thin and the latest news regarding Casemiro’s health adds to their worries.
Casemiro is the most recent star player to join a string of first-team players sidelined due to injury concerns, including the majority of the club’s senior defenders.
The Brazil international recently returned from an ankle problem and started in the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle, however, he was substituted at halftime due to a fresh hamstring injury.
The Sporting News has the latest on what is known about Casemiro’s injury and when he could return for United with key games on the horizon.

Casemiro hamstring injury news, updates for Man United
The Brazilian was absent from the derby day demolition but returned to the matchday squad for the home tie against the Magpies and was named captain, with Bruno Fernandes rested on the bench.
Unfortunately, Casemiro only lasted 45 minutes. His short cameo was enough to see him pick up a yellow card and see Newcastle strike twice. It was unclear at the time whether it was an injury or Ten Hag had made the change for tactical reasons.
“Just before halftime, he got an injury. That’s why we had to take him off,” Ten Hag confirmed in his post-match press conference.
He was then asked how long he would be ruled out for: “I can’t give an answer on that [now].
“We have to wait 24 hours, but I think definitely for Saturday, he is out.”
It is now clear that the injury is serious after United offered an update on Casemiro’s status.

The statement read: “Casemiro will be out for several weeks due to a hamstring injury suffered during our Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United on Wednesday.
“The Brazilian midfielder was withdrawn at halftime due to the issue, and subsequent assessment has revealed a strain that will keep him out for a number of weeks.”
When is Casemiro back for Man United?
Several weeks will suggest he may miss the rest of November which would see him unavailable for the following matches: Fulham (A), Copenhagen (A), Luton (H), Everton (A), Galatasaray (A).
It also means Brazil’s World Cup qualifiers against Colombia and world champions Argentina this month are probably out of the question.
