The Lakeshore Canadiens have won nine games in a row after Saturday’s 8-1 road win over the Amherstburg Admirals in Bills Stobbs Division play in the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
Julian Gignac had four goal and an assist for the second-place Canadiens (13-3-0-0). Marco Sladoje had two goals and four assists while Bryce Scarlett had a goal and four assists. Zach Vaillancourt had the other goal for Lakeshore while Charlie Coristine replied for the eighth-place Admirals (3-15-0-0).

In other action, captain Braedon Caetano had a goal and three assists to lead the Wheatley Sharks to a 6-4 road win over the Mooretown Flags. Jake Eaton, Mitchell Hickson, Kyle Bleau, Shannon Olson and Denzel Aguilar added single goals for the third-place Sharks (12-4-1-1) against the fifth-place Flags (5-8-2-1).
Faust powers Flyers
Captain Cayden Faust had a goal and five points to power the Leamington Flyers to a 6-2 win over the Caledon Admirals in Ontario Junior Hockey League action on Sunday.
Anthony Ciaramitaro, Griffin Grundner, Marquise Brown, Darian Anderson and Alex Cunningham also scored single goals for Leamington against Admirals (4-15-1-4) as the Flyers (15-7-3-0) moved into a tie for third place in the Western Conference.
Lancer hockey splits
After falling to the Western Mustangs at home on Friday, the Windsor Lancers men’s hockey team rebounded on Saturday for a 6-3 win in London while the women’s team fell on the road to the Nipissing Lakers.
Keegan McMullen scored twice to lead the Lancers past Western. Holden Wale, Grant Spence, Mason Kohn and Will Ennis added single goals for the Lancers (6-6-0-0) while Aaron Shaw picked up three assists against the Mustangs (2-11-0-0).

Jessica Gribbon had the lone goal for the Lancers (4-6-0-1) in a 4-1 road loss to Nipissing (10-1-0-0).
Lancer basketball splits
The Windsor Lancers men’s basketball team fell in overtime to the York Lions in OUA action on Saturday while the women’s team got back to .500 with a road win over the Lions.
The men’s team (1-5) got a big boost off the bench with Yohann Sam scoring 26 points and Denzel Cummins adding 21 points in a 101-96 overtime loss to York (3-3). Xavier Ochu also had 21 points for the Lancers.
The women’s team trailed by two at the half, but held York to just a single point in the third quarter and rallied to take a nine-point lead. Maggie Denys had 13 points for the Lancers (3-3) and Kali Grootenboer added 11 points and 11 rebounds against the Lions (0-6).
Saints basketball splits
The St. Clair Saints women’s basketball team continues to roll while the men’s team suffered its first OCAA loss of the season on Saturday.
The women’s team built a double-digit lead after the first quarter and never looked back in moving to 6-0 on the season with a 75-43 win over the Sheridan Bruins at the SportsPlex.
Kaitlyn Overeem finished with 18 points for the Saints Shae-Lyn Murphy added 13 points while Ania Burklarewicz came off the bench to score 13 points against the Bruins (0-7).
The men’s team built a double-digit lead after the first quarter, but could not hold off the Sheridan Bruins in a 93-88 loss.
Chad Vincent-Simon had 31 points for the Saints (5-1) and Mazin Tiea added 29 points with Andrew Loyuk chipped in with 14 points against the Bruins (3-4).
